The importance of a Spiritual Diary, as many of you find a need to bring your spiritual life into closer harmony with your work-day life with all its hustle and bustle, pulls on your time and energy and its challenges. But it is just at those times when we feel all caught up in our activities that we need to pause and remember the purpose of our life. Being spiritual is so much more than just going to church on Sunday or saying prayers in the hour of need. It is how you live your life, and your spirituality is reflected in your relationships with people, with nature and in your relationships with your own inner heart. A spiritual diary can help you chart your course to more happiness and fulfillment. It can be a mirror to see the unfoldment of our own feelings and perceptions. Our reactions to people and ideas, our insights into life, our highest inspirations, all these together form our own spiritual story. Looking back over your diary can show you how rough or smooth the road you have traveled has been. Of course, the depth revealed in your writings will only reflect the depth that you put into it. To some people a diary is a chance to release emotion. To others it is an opportunity to work out problems. Still to others it is a record of events that took place that day. Whether you choose to use this diary as the notebook for your soul’s most private thoughts, or even as an appointment calendar for daily activities, the spiritual message for the day can be a reminder to you to get in touch with that deeper part of who you are. The wisdom on each page spans all levels of life—the physical, social, intellectual, emotional, philosophical, intuitive, imaginative and beyond! There are probably few other philosophers who have written so deeply on such a wide breadth of subjects as I have. Yet all of my varied writings, whether poetry, prose, social commentary or scientific inquiry, have a common thread—that our consciousness and only our consciousness determines how we perceive reality. The passages in the spiritual diary are taken from my many works that examine consciousness, spanning the fields of science, religion, government, economics, human relationships, and Self-realization. Most importantly, they challenge us to look at the quality of our own being and how we relate to all the many dimensions of life. From the heights of divine inspiration to practical common-sense sayings, the enlightened wisdom rings true with a direct perception.
